Policies
Privacy
Spirit of Life Reformed Baptist Church respects your privacy and seeks to handle personal information carefully, lawfully and only for appropriate purposes. This notice explains how we use information provided through our website.
Last reviewed: October 2026
Information we may collect
When you contact us through the website, by email or by telephone, we may receive information such as:
- your name;
- email address;
- telephone number;
- information you include in a message or enquiry;
- information relating to an event, ministry or activity you are interested in;
- technical information generated when you use the website.
Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive personal information in website messages.
Because we are a church, information you choose to provide may sometimes reveal religious beliefs or other sensitive information. Where this happens, we treat that information with particular care and process it only where permitted by law.
How we use your information
We may use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries;
- provide information about church services, events or ministries;
- provide pastoral or practical support where this has been requested;
- administer church activities for which you have contacted us;
- keep appropriate records;
- protect the security and proper operation of our website;
- meet legal, safeguarding or regulatory responsibilities.
We do not sell personal information.
We do not use information given through a pastoral or church enquiry for unrelated commercial marketing.
Our legal basis for using information
Depending upon the circumstances, we may process information because:
- you have given consent;
- it is necessary for our legitimate activities and administration as a church and charity;
- we have a legal obligation;
- or another lawful basis applies.
Where information is particularly sensitive, including information concerning religious belief, we apply the additional protections required by data-protection law.
Donations
Online donations may be processed through third-party donation providers such as Zeffy.
Where you choose to use a third-party service, that provider may collect and process information under its own privacy notice.
The Church does not receive your payment-card details merely because you make a donation through an external payment provider.
Sharing information
We only share personal information where there is an appropriate reason to do so.
This may include sharing information with:
- service providers who help us operate the website or church administration;
- professional advisers where necessary;
- safeguarding authorities, police or other public authorities where required or appropriate;
- another organisation where you have asked or authorised us to do so.
We do not disclose personal information merely for convenience.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected, including any legal, safeguarding, financial or administrative requirements.
Routine website enquiries that do not need to become part of another church record will not be kept indefinitely.
Your rights
Depending upon the circumstances, data-protection law may give you rights relating to your personal information, including rights to:
- ask what information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion in appropriate circumstances;
- restrict or object to certain uses of your information;
- withdraw consent where processing is based upon consent.
Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.
If you have a concern about how we use your information, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it.
You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
